Hello AGAIN!!...I have been mulling over doing this post for a little while...(as it is a bit too self indulgent for my liking..)..
But there kind of comes a time where i need some...hopefully....positive reinforcement!!
OKAY...i think we all know i am turning 52 yo this year...
I have ALWAYS had LONG (longish...is there such a word??) hair..
I started off being a shy timid little girl...per photo...with my short hair!! (CIRCA 1960!!)..
Then had my first son...(per photo re me kissing him)...
Then me with my extra long hair in my early 30's!!!
I was always an original RED HEAD!! kind of faded a bit with "old age" ... although i credit it to lots of breastfeeding!! (i hope that doesnt sound offensive)..
SO I NOW need to go and get it "supplemented" so to speak every couple of months...(goodness knows..when i was younger..this would have been something silly OLD women go to do)..
SOO whilst in Japan i found this lovely mag...AND I want my hair to look like that on the cover...(it kind of looks like that anyway...but just needs touching up).. (per the photo)..
I still have hair kind of similar per the photo...(that is me just to the left of this mag photo...probably NOT too bad for an OLD???????)!!!
BUT i must say...lately...I have had quite a few people actually say to me.."you should start thinking about cutting your hair short now andrea...as you are in your 50's"!!!
OMG!! is this an AUSSIE thing?? why should i change my hair style after..nearly ALL MY LIFE.. just because I am in my 50's???
It is NOT that i am trying to be young/look younger etc...BUT that is all I know..I have a big pony tail playing tennis...tied with a bow matching my outfit...
sometimes I think AUSSIE women should TRY TO emulate the gorgeous CHIC style of their European counterparts...!!
SORRY about this little bit of a whinge... but it has played on my mind for a while now...(and I just like having long hair?? why should I just cut it short cos I am in my 50's?? )...
I dont quite get it??
BUT it has kind of depresssed me a little bit...
have a lovely week everyone..
xx andrea

Hi Andrea,
First off, honey wear you hair the way you like it! Don't let others tell you how they think you should look, age is only a number not necessarily a way you should act or how you should dress. If you feel comfortable in your own skin wearing you hair like that then keep doing it. I am a bit all over the place when it comes to hair, I would love to have something wild & really in vogue but I keep going for the same sort of thing, the only variation is really the colour.
Hugs,
~S~ xxx
Long hair rules, dont let others dictate how you where your hair! It looks great as it is!
Dont listen to them Andrea,
Your hair looks fabulous!!!

( another long haired redhead..lol)
Hi Andrea, I am in the same boat. My hair is long and I am thinking about getting it cut shorter for Amy's wedding. I remember when I was younger I used to think that older women shouldn't have long hair but now.... I just don't know what way to go either.
Love your hair as it is.
Alison
Well I have long hair forthe first time in years!
And I am hanging on to it as it is all I have going for me.
The rest is getting saggy, wrinkly and tired but the hairs still good.
Again I would just have it as you like it.
By the way that piccie of you smooching your baby is just divine:)
I think it looks great and it makes you who you are. I cut all my (very)long hair off in my early twenties and I didn't feel like me anymore. Then it yo-yo's from short to shoulder length and not much longer. It is such a "big deal" when you have had long hair all your life. Don't let people tell you that just because you're in your 50's that you should now be cutting your hair off. That would be just plain ridiculous. Don't do it......it looks beautiful.
Okay Andrea... I'm feeling your pain. I've had long hair (waist length) all my life and like you, I've had those same comments about cutting it from 'helpul friends'. Recently I have had to cut it due to the difficulty I had with it while in hospital and afterwards. It is still long by many people's standards being just past my shoulders.
So here is my dilema... I miss my hair so much. I don't feel quite like me without the mane but, I've had so many complimentry comments about my shorter length. Hhmmm...not sure what to make of that but let me tell you - you'll miss it like I do so think very carefully before cutting it. People may say you can grow it back but we know that takes an awful long time.
Sorry about such a long post.

Andrea - Most important topic first - HAIR - (I will email you about the other stuff later in the day)
Hair is a great security blanket for all of us and therefore you must wear it as you please. Good hair gives us confidence, great hair and we feel as if we are on top of the world. Bad hair and our personality changes, we shrink in stature and all feels wrong. I, like you have had longish hair most of my life - now it is just below shoulder length - for now I am leaving it there. The trick with hair is to make sure it is well groomed - long or short - very well cut and coloured professionally if that is the way you want to play the grey hair thing. Maybe for the sake of compromise take off an inch but enjoy your gorgeous locks, you have the face and the personal style to carry it, xv.
Andrea ~ First let me say, your hair looks great! It doesn't really matter what others may say or think, it's you who has to be happy with yourself! My mom always told me, "age is a state of mind", so if this is what makes you feel great about yourself, then go on and "toot your horn"!
I have short short hair, have had it for years (not going to tell how many), but for me it works! I personally don't care whether it's in "vogue" or not! Fashions, along with hairstyles change all the time, but you look wonderful with long hair, (lucky you)! So I say "fooey on the ones making the comments on YOUR hair"! You certainly have the face to match your gorgeous hair!

I like your hair! Its lovely and I agree with all the other gals,it's you and you might miss it if you cut it.
Hey Andrea - me again...
I have given you 2 awards so pop on over to pick them up.

Sweetie, I think you have the style and Charisma to carry off long hair!! if you are happy with it than leave it as is!! A change can be refreshing but it's your hair and your happiness!!

Hi Andrea
I agree with everyone else you wear and have your hair however it makes you happy. This is what make you who you are. Dont let others tell you what to do.
On another note... Just love your furry baby darling Master Sooty.
Take Care.
