KITCHEN HUTCH DECOR MAKEOVER TUESDAY!!~~

Wonderful HOT day here in Melbourne today..

(glad that Tuesday is NOT one of my tennis days as I would have FRIED!)...

But I am changing bits & bobs around my kitchen...

sick & tired of looking at it!!

So I have started with the bottom shelf of my kitchen hutch..

Putting all my caffe latte coloured plates & like coloured goodies in this section..

I have been able to place ALL my handmade recent goodies in this possie as well..from vintage paper covered "balls"/easter eggs/dressmakers dummy/alphabet letter....

I think they blend in quite well??

Anyway...still lots more to do...as the rest of the kitchen is in a MESS...

HOW MANY FOAM EASTER EGGS CAN ONE GIRL DECOUPAGE IN HALF A DAY??

Hi girls, well it is GRAND PRIX Sunday here in Melbourne~~~~

I am not really that interested in Formula One racing, but as BOTH my boys ARE & the fact that MR B has come home for the weekend to attend this race with his brother..

I do have to seem interested!!

(as I haven't seen eldest son since Christmas)...

So whilst sitting watching the pre race "stuff" on tv...with MY BOYS~~~

I covered, with the wonderful MOD PODGE....

28 x foam easter eggs...(2 x differing sizes)...

In CATH KIDSTON drawer liners...!!

It was actually quite nice covering these, as the liners have a beautiful fragrance which made the arduous task a LOT more pleasing~~~

So i am now totally "glued" out...

going to sit back & watch the race, seeing as both boys are in attendance there...

After doing tennis this morning in quite oppressive humid heat for old Melbourne town at this time of year, I felt a little tired this afternoon...

So i put my feet up for a while and read some of my latest stash of magazines..

WOW!!

whilst reading through an "express air mail" copy of the BBC's Homes & Antiques magazine, I came across a spread on a wonderful book entitled...

"REDISCOVERED TREASURES"...(feb 2011 published)...

HOW GORGEOUS ARE THESE PHOTOS??...

so i quickly ordered TWO copies...(from Borders)...

SOOO as this is my 320th post about NOTHING!!~~ (queen of random)!!!

I figured i would do a giveaway...(never done one before)..

So what better giveaway than this book??

(ps..hopefully i will receive it from Borders seeing as they are in receivership at the minute...but If a problem I shall order it elsewhere...SOO Dont worry..YOU WILL receive a copy if a winner!!)...

VINTAGE ROSE PAPER & POLYSTYRENE BALLS..EQUALS??.

Hi ladies,

I have been busy this Saturday "tearing" up bits of vintage ROSE inspired paper I have had stored away for ages....

MOD PODGING it onto some polystyrene balls....

In differing sizes..

SO a little MIX of rose themed balls..

Lots more yet to finish...

MONDAY'S LOVE OF VINTAGE BOOKS~~~~~~~

Another glorious autumn's day here in Melbourne with the sun shining brightly and with not a breath of wind...

I literally have a car boot full of lovely vintage books i purchased from our local op shop for the mere sum of just 20 cents EACH~~

I figured if i messed up with some of my ideas for them, I wouldn't be too out of pocket!!

I already had other ones I had bundled up into like colours/tied with string/ribbon etc...

But today I experimented with covering one in good quality calico and them embellishing with a bit of my "endless supply" of crochet cloths/doilies etc...

PLUS I just had to scrunch up another page from my fabulous vintage french dictionary...& add a hand stamped french peg of mine..

I think I am quite happy with the result...??

Labour Day holiday here in Melbourne today so not much happening...to add to the lack of happenings..my foxtel has "carked" it, so I am unable to watch my lifestyle programmes...!!~~ boo hoo~~

a quick note to all my son's gorgeous Japanese friends..

we are ALWAYS thinking about you....lots of emails & text messages sent with most replying all are okay...

an extra SPECIAL thought from me to Ryoko....Kentaro...Namako...Jimmy & family...& all my other Japanese friends...

READING GORGEOUS NEW MAGAZINES...DYEING CLOTHS & PAPER MACHE MANNEQUINS~~

Well i have had another busy day today...~~~~

Received my delivery of the AWE inspiring...

ARTFUL BLOGGING magazine...

Somerset HOME magazine..

Where Women Cook magazine..

ALL my Christmasssssss!! kind of came in one FELL SWOOP..so to speak..

SOO in between reading them..

I embellished another couple of my paper mache dressmaker's dummies...

(not finished yet)...& still have several more to do..

I use VINTAGE patterns to cover them...

& this process has now creeped up into my kitchen area..

My crafting stuff is SLOWLY but SURELY creeping into nearly every room of my home!!~~~

Dyed some gorgeous cloths in pinks/purples/greens...EYE CANDY MIX...

Plus dyed a piece of cream hessian a light mauve..just to see how it would look..

looks okay...so I have a few ideas as to what i would like to do with it.....

But to get back to the magazines...

GORGEOUS PHOTOs...

& I am just "hanging out" to find a cheapish vintage mirror which I can embellish with FRENCH script...(per photos)...

Anyway...that has been my Thursday (amongst other very important matters I DID attend to...~~)...

GREEN/PURPLE & RED ROSES ARE MY FAVOURITES THIS MONDAY~~~~

Well today i was in a green theme mood..

Maybe cos i purchased a lovely couple of vintage tablecloths yesterday in shades of green/cream with red roses..

But I think it really started last week when i bought 6 x gorgeous Johnson Bros..english "PAREEK" plates/bowls....

from the OP SHOP with Tamarah..(shabby vintage junk blog)...~~

So i put together a little vignette of like coloured goodies I already own..

stack of 3 x vintage books..

green lemons & apples..

jug/plate/ cup & saucers..

vintage scales..

& I had to throw in a touch of PURPLE...

I am NOT normally a "GREEN" coloured person..

But I think I am leaning towards it as a new favourite...??

Mixed with rich creams...red/rose...purple...??
