ARTFUL BLOGGING & THE VINTAGE TABLE..HOW INSPIRING!!

Hi ladies....

well just to mention that it is becoming SLIGHTLY cooler today here in MELBOURNE...(reached 45 degrees yesterday..celcius...about 113 farenheit for overseas readers..

& I turned the air conditioning off in our bedroom at 4.30 am as i was getting a tad cold..!! (not like me to get cold at MY age!!)....wink wink...

Of course it was the HOTTEST NIGHT on record & my husband just shook his head in disgust!! he just couldnt understand why the air con was turned off!!

so he grumpily got up & started it up again!!!

Funny how silly little things like air conditioning on a HOT SUMMERS NIGHT sends EVERYONE PSYCHO!!!

anyway...THIS blog is MEANT to be about TWO gorgeous books I received yesterday...

THE VINTAGE TABLE...from Romantic Home mag editors...this is JUST BEAUTIFUL...superb photos/ideas..junk/flea market/shabby/french chic..WOW!!

ARTFUL BLOGGING mag..(more like a mini book it is soo thick)..

HOW beautiful are those divinely feminine photos?? JUST GORGEOUS..

PLUS I went junk market shopping today...found lots of bits & bobs..

BUT my favourite was the BOX FULL of OLD?? vintage type pearl jewellery...

even though NOT all functional or perfect...HOW Lovely would they all look in a vintage glass jar??

Or i figure you will guess where they will end uP????!!!

VINTAGE BELLE MAGAZINES..BEAUTIFUL PICTURES..OLDIES BUT TOTAL GOODIES!!

Hi again ladies..well just following on from my last post re tooo much stuff..

I am actually sorting through MORE of my VAST magazine collection I have & found some lovely "vintage" BELLE mags i had stored away..

just flicking through them made me realise why i have had them stashed away for some 20 years!!

I think the photos speak for themselves..

OLDIES but GOODIES...!!!

MY 86 yo DAD swam the PIER TO PUB swim yesterday..off LORNE in victoria..

He swam the ONE kilometre OCEAN SWIM in 22 minutes...!!

Coming FIRST ..of course in his VINTAGE category!!

IT would have taken ME 22 HOURS!!!

GO DAD!!!! more bay swims for him over the next 4 weeks!!!

ps...i have been dying today lots of lovely linen purchased last week...

SOOOO...I think the cycle has BEGUN again for 2010..!!

so maybe I DO LOVE that silly/vicious cycle??

buying/selling/hoarding/accumulating...??

makes MY life interesting to say the least...!!

AWESOME VINTAGE SINGER SEWING BOOK..1954!!!

Hello again ladies..

I kind of felt a bit guilty starting of MY first post for the NEW YEARS with a whinge..

I was tempted to delete it..but figured I would just list a nicer post instead...!!

As said in my last post I did manage to find soo many lovely wonderful vintage flea market type goodies on saturday...

AND this book was one of them..

SINGER SEWING BOOK...published 1954~!!!!

I love love the colour plates....(could almost be re touched to be 2010 shabby chic??)..

the chapters are AWESOME...showing & explaining all aspects of sewing...which haven't changed over the years...!!

PLUS I just LOVE the DEDICATION written on the inside page....

"this book is dedicated to women & girls..

and especially to teachers of sewing everywhere.

who enjoy the feel of fabric, the beauty of textures,

the precision of stitches, the smoothness of seams

and who delight always in appropriate fabrics...

carefully cut and made up for a happy purpose.."....

I think that is just FABULOUS.. and I don't even sew!!!!!

SOO i think this is a bit of a HAPPIER BLOG start to the NEW YEARS!!

LOTS & LOTS OF NEW YEARS VINTAGE FINDS..YIPEE!!

Hi ladies.....& happy NEW YEAR...

I have to say i am just sooo glad that the new years/xmas business is NOW all oVER...

on xmas eve we had a HUGE HUGE thunderstorm here in Melbourne...which I loved watching. & did cause the party in the city etc & outside my house to be a LOT more subdued....NOT that that worried me in the slightest..

BUT what did make me MORE THAN TOTALLY ANGRY/IRATE was.......

we had some stupid problems with people parking IN OUR driveway to watch the fireworks...

(hubby's dad had just had a suspected heart attack...& he had to get out of our driveway to go to the RMH..(royal melbourne hospital)..

BUT some woman LITERALLY BACKED into our driveway to watch the fireworks & wouldnt MOVE..??

My hubby approached her several times...BUT she refused to move OUT OF OUR DRIVEWAY..

what tha?? where was this woman coming from???

her response was...OH why do you have to leave now..i want to watch the fireworks...

even after hubby pleading that his dad was in hospital???

she refused to move...

I DONT GET IT...NEVER WILL...why are some people JUST SOO PATHETIC/Inconsiderate...?? just to watch some silly lame fireworks???

we did ring the police...(but when arrived the fireworks had finished & she had since vanished)..

so that incident really tarnished our new years eve..

BUT the good news..

It wasnt a heart attack...just heart beating irregular etc...so at 80 yrs old..THAT was good news..

soo now that I have that off my chest...!!!!!

HUBBY took me vintage flea junk market shopping yesterday & I found JUST SOO MANY GORGEOUS Goodies...

little snippet of them....VINTAGE SEWING BASKET...COASTERS..PLACEMATS..SOO MUCH LINEN & LACE (havent photographed all)...roses tins....italian frames....ballet prints...other prints...
